Part 4 | For Those Not Yet Here

Psalm 102:18-22 | November 16, 2025

Dr. Mark S. Hartman, Lead Pastor - SCBC

Psalm 102:18-22

18 Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord:

19 The Lord looked down from His sanctuary on high, from heaven He viewed the earth,

20 to hear the groans of the prisoners and release those condemned to death.

21 So the name of the Lord will be declared in Zion and His praise in Jerusalem

22 when the peoples and the kingdoms assemble to worship the Lord. (NIV)

1.INVEST YOUR LIFE IN MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR THE FUTURE.

A. Psalm 102:18a Let this be written for a future generation...

B. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.  (NASB)

Your faith in God’s promise to you has just guaranteed you that you will receive it.

2. HAVE A BIAS FOR THE “UNREACHED” WHO ARE NOT YET CHRIST FOLLOWERS.

A. Psalm 102:18 Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord.

B. Matthew 18:12 What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?

C. In the midst of the crowd, God never forgets the one who doesn’t yet know Him.

D. Today we are recommitting ourselves to reach those still unreached.  We are joining with God in His pursuit of the “one.”

3. JOIN WITH GOD WHO IS WILLING AND READY TO RESCUE THOSE WHO ARE IMPRISONED IN THEIR SIN.

A. Psalm 102:19-20  The Lord looked down from His sanctuary on high, from heaven He viewed the earth, 20 to hear the groans of the prisoners and release those condemned to death.

B. 1 Peter 1:18-19  For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. 19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. (NLT)

C. Because we have been rescued, it is now our turn to be a part of God’s rescue mission!

D. Psalm 102:22  …when the peoples and the kingdoms assemble to worship the Lord.(NIV)
