Stories of Change

Dress A Girl is a simple way for women to use their simple skill of sewing to deliver extraordinary dignity and hope to girls around the world. It is a picture of quiet, practical obedience that God uses in ways far beyond what anyone sees in a sewing room.

Our volunteers allow colorful dresses to become far more than fabric and thread. Each dress is a statement: “You are seen. You are valued. You are not forgotten.” Volunteers at Sugar Creek gather to cut, stitch, and pray over garments that will land on the shoulders of girls who may have never owned something new in their lives. For many of those girls, a modest, well-made dress can also offer a layer of protection and respect in cultures where vulnerability is often exploited.

Behind the heart of Dress of Girl is the belief that God is calling everyone to join Him in His mission to reach the nations. Not everyone can fly across an ocean, but anyone can join a team, learn a skill, or even sew a dress. It is a beautiful reminder that God does not only call preachers and travelers—He calls sewists, organizers, encouragers, and willing hearts.
